4 JULY
June is gone, and with it nearly half of our trip. We arrived in Jaipur two days ago, after another exhausting trip on what was supposed to be a luxurious bus....No comment!! We had lunch in Delhi with a friend and then off to the train station to move on further again. Over 5 hours, on top of 15, but slowly, while I had my feet out the paneless window, my eyes half closing on my book, my head on Mirek's lap, music in one ear and the hot wind full on my face, I felt something weird, unexpected, something for which I had to stop and think, and still I couldn't put it into a coherent thought inside my mind - let alone into words. And then, suddenly, it dawned on me.
It was wonderful: it was just...PEACE. Peacefulness.
The complete disregard of time passing as we have it all, the weird feeling of being exactly where you want but not only, exactly where you should. I lifted my head and told Mirek, and it's amazing to see that I'm not dreaming: it's just the same to him!!
Last night, after a full day in Jaipur, we realized how huge it is.
3.5 million people lives here; the closest source of water being 80 km away from the city.
It hasn't rained for 5 years....We've met some friends on our way here, and this, really, is another surprise... It's so strange, sometimes, how some people you come across you move past, and some other you sweep along with you, however long it lasts, it's like a current, fast as train, powerfull as a river, so we "raft" along, constantly catching and releasing things, people, and sometimes ourselves too."
